It was a celebration of excellence, showcasing some of the best in Philippine real estate.

FIABCI Philippines—the local chapter of the “Fédération Internationale des Administrateurs de Biens et Conseils Immobiliers”—held last month the annual Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards, a prestigious event that highlights some of the most exceptional developments in the country.

2024 winners

This year’s awards yielded 17 Gold and three Silver winners in the following categories: Residential High-Rise, Residential Low-Rise, Specialized (Purpose Built), Hotel, Public Infrastructure/ Amenities, Industrial Development, Masterplan, Mixed-Use Development, Residential Affordable, Residential Mid-Rise, Resort, and Sustainable Development.

The winners—which included SM Development Corp., Filinvest Land, Avida Land, Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates, and Robinsons Land, among others—will have the chance to showcase to the world what excellence in Philippine real estate means. Their achievements will highlight how the Philippines is also striving to adhere to the highest possible standards in design, development, and sustainability.

For this year, FIABCI Philippines also named Filinvest Land as “Outstanding Developer of the Year” while Lance Y. Gokongwei, chairman, president and CEO of Robinsons Land and Dr. Reghis M. Romero II, chairman of the board of RMR Capital and RMRII Group of Companies, were hailed as the “Property Men of the Year”.

Global recognition

This yearly awarding ceremony serves as the centerpiece of FIABCI Philippines’ efforts to provide local developers with a platform for global recognition.

Since its inception in 2003, FIABCI Philippines has been seeking for ways to connect local real estate players with the international market—promoting excellence, fostering international partnerships and opportunities, and elevating the country’s sector to international prominence.

FIABCI Philippines leverages the extensive network offered by the Paris-based FIABCI, which today has 48 national and multinational chapters, 90 professional associations, 95 academic institutions, and over a million members across more than 70 countries.

Gold Winner awardees

It serves as a global network for real estate professionals, providing opportunities for international business, knowledge exchange, and fostering high professional standards.

FIABCI also holds a Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, advising on property rights, housing for the poor, and other critical real estate issues. Its primary role is to promote private property ownership, facilitate international real estate transactions, and encourage cooperation among global real estate professionals.

Expansive network

Such an expansive network thus offers a powerful platform that can bridge local and international real estate markets, promoting collaboration, investment, and innovation.

Thus, by integrating into this global network, FIABCI Philippines is essentially positioning the country’s real estate sector prominently on the international stage.

And this is what FIABCI Philippines has been doing and striving for since it was established in 2003 and was officially recognized as a chapter at the 55th World Congress of FIABCI in 2004.

For two decades now, FIABCI Philippines has been playing an active role in international real estate congresses, business meetings, and leadership summits.

It also participated as judges for the FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Awards, the world’s most prestigious real estate awards recognizing excellence in various categories including residential, office, industrial, hotel, resort, environmental, heritage, masterplan and sustainable development, among others.

‘Oscars of Real Estate’

In the Philippines, the local chapter of FIABCI began holding the annual Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards in 2015 when it hosted a regional summit for the group.

This move formed part of the group’s efforts to further promote excellence in Philippine real estate globally as the winners would be eligible to compete in the FIABCI International Prix d’Excellence Awards—often referred to as the “Oscars of Real Estate”.

This international accolade evaluates projects on technical, environmental, social, economic, and financial criteria, affirming FIABCI’s mission to provide optimal property solutions and to help make the world a better place to live, work and enjoy.

FIABCI Philippines said it adopted similar criteria and standards for the local tilt to increase the winnability of Philippine awardees when they finally compete at the International Prix.

Significant strides

In the long run, FIABCI Philippines will continue to play its part to help further elevate standards in the local real estate industry and to see more projects competing and winning at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards.

With its eye on the global market, FIABCI Philippines is no doubt poised to make significant strides in the coming years, ensuring that the country’s best property developers and projects receive the recognition they deserve on the world stage.
