Interesting article! My first introduction to tilapia was via my uncle’s backyard tilapia pond in the early ’50s. Then later, we used to fish for it using crude fishing rod with line and hook at a relative’s bangus fishpond purely for leisure but not for food. At that time, tilapia was treated as nuisance fish in a bangus fishpond. They were small, looked ugly and not saleable. Tilapia has come a long way since then to present, competing directly with bangus as common food on the table.
