‘Thank you for showing me what it means to make a difference’

Dear Lolo Nene and Lola Alit,

Time has flown by since you both passed, but memories of my childhood vacations in Cebu prove difficult to forget. Beach trips were fun. The scent and taste of all the Cebu lechon we had still lingers in my mind.

And who can forget the busy Christmas days we had preparing food in the biggest of kalderos to share with those who wanted a warm Christmas meal? I will never forget the crowd gathered outside the gate of the house, waiting for their turn to come in, sit, and eat.

Thank you for showing me what it means to make a difference in the lives of people—that one simple gesture can truly make someone’s day.

Sincerely,
