Astara’s JMC opens first-ever dealership under Autohub in Pasig City

Early this year, JMC (Jiangling Motors Corporation) Philippines returned to the local market after years of hiatus. This, after its former distributor, the now-defunct Star Motors closed down several years ago. The carmaker, under the latter, then sold almost 4,000 trucks and over 1,500 pickups during its 10-year run in the country.

Jiangling Motors Corporation Limited, the carmaker’s counterpart and mother company in China, on the other hand, has a different story in its mainland. It has been partnering with Ford since 1995, building the Ranger, Everest, Transit and more recently, the Bronco, for the Chinese market. For export, it helps distribute the popular Territory in key markets globally, including the Philippines.

In fact, in 2023, JMC kept its ball rolling and continued to dominate the cutthroat Chinese pickup truck market with a whopping 23-percent market share. Now, under globally acclaimed automobile distributor, Astara, the carmaker eyes to take things to another level in the Philippines.

Recently, it opened its first-ever dealership, under Astara, in Metro Manila, the JMC Pasig.

Strategically located along C. Raymundo Avenue in Pasig City, JMC Pasig is owned and managed by the Autohub Group. At the opening was the practical Vigus pickup truck and the Grand Avenue, considered as one the behemoths in its class of pickups.

“The inauguration of JMC Pasig marks a significant milestone in the expansion of JMC pickups in the Philippines,” said M.J del Pilar, sales director of JMC Philippines.

“Partnering with the Autohub Group, a company renowned for its excellence and deep understanding of the automotive market, enables us to strategically position JMC as a strong contender in the local pick-up segment,” he continued.

“We are confident that together, we will redefine what Filipino customers can expect in terms of quality, value, and service.”

Willy Tee Ten, Autohub Group head honcho, meanwhile, for his part, emphasized the strategic importance of the new dealership.

“JMC Pasig is set to redefine the market by offering innovative alternatives in the pickup segment,” he said.

For him, the Grand Avenue and Vigus pickups are not just vehicles. They are solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of their customers, either they would be used for personal lifestyle or robust business applications.

“With highly competitive pricing, a five-year warranty, and a lifetime engine warranty, these pickups represent an unbeatable value proposition that aligns perfectly with our mission to provide accessible, high-quality mobility solutions to Filipinos,” he added.

Astara and Autohub powers combined

The two formidable companies handling the JMC brand are in alignment with the carmaker’s commitment to delivering quality and versatility to the Filipino market.

The Autohub Group is a multi-brand automotive leader with over two decades of industry experience, managing 22 multinational brands and operating over 85 dealerships nationwide.

While the Astara Group, meantime, is a global mobility powerhouse, operating in three continents, 19 countries, and representing a diverse portfolio of over 50 nationalities, with an estimated sales turnover exceeding 5 billion euros.
