I’m not surprised by how officials acted with the arrest of Alice and the selfies that came about it. That’s precisely the attitude Filipinos tend to have especially with people of status, political bigwigs, celebrities, wealthy, and influential officials. The selfie culture as President Marcos aptly described is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s really how we revere or adore very important people despite their character or reputation. And precisely how it opens the floodgate of corruption.
