PSA: Use digital national IDs in absence of cards
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is encouraging the public to utilize the digital version of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or the national ID while waiting for the physical cards to be issued.
“We are working on delivering the physical ID, the remaining [ones] … But in the meantime, because we are a digital national ID platform, we will not really need the physical because of the digital aspect of our national ID platform,” Assistant National Statistician Emily Pagador told reporters during the Philippine Identity Summit on Monday.
Pagador said that due to the digital nature of the national ID, those who are already registered can already access their information online and enjoy its benefits.
The digital version can be accessed via the eGov mobile application.
