Shorter office hours for state workers on Sept. 23

Malacañang has shortened the office hours for government agencies under the executive branch on Sept. 23 to allow employees to spend more time with their families for the remainder of the day. Signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Sept. 12, Memorandum Circular 64 ordered work suspended in government offices at 3 p.m. next Monday to give employees “the full opportunity to celebrate the 32nd National Family Week.”

Sept. 23 was designated as “Kainang Pamilyang Mahalaga Day” as mandated by Proclamation 60 issued in 1992 under then President Fidel Ramos and Proclamation 326 issued in 2012 by then President Benigno Aquino III. The Palace also encouraged other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies and the private sector to suspend work so that families could celebrate Family Week.
