DepEd hastens procurement process for 2025

Dempsey Reyes

The Department of Education (DepEd) has ordered the fast- tracking of its procurement processes for next year to ensure the timely delivery of goods and smooth implementation of projects.

Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara’s DepEd Memorandum No. 049, series of 2024, which was dated Sept. 18 but made public only on Monday, covers the procurement of goods and services, including textbooks, learning tools and infrastructure projects applicable for fiscal year 2025.

The memorandum will apply to all procurement projects undertaken through the competitive bidding and alternative methods of procurement. Exempted, however, are repeat orders, shopping and negotiated procurements, including those done in emergency cases, takeover of contracts and small-value procurements. —DEMPSEY REYES
