The criminal nature of the Duterte brand can not co-exist with a moderate leadership. The need for order and stability necessitates dismantling of criminal legacies left in place by Duterte which is also the source of their power. It’s a long way yet to 2028, and the ruling power has all the options to extinguish Duterte’s ambitions. Most effective way is to expose their heinous crimes and prosecute them.

Corruption. Corruption. Corruption. A never-ending litany of the root cause of the country’s ails and problems. And they can never be stopped as long as there are corrupt officials and people who enable them to come along. It needs absolute punishment for those who are caught and a cry for discipline from everybody concerned.

The upsurge in the popularity of Duterte despite his many attacks against the Catholics, the Pope, the saints, Jesus Christ and God, the creator only showed the vulnerability of Filipinos and the hand of Satan in this situation. For how can a nation with a 90 percent Christian population allow and applaud a president to malign, insult, and throw several foul language against their God? Only those who are in the spell and influence of the evil one can endure with glee with him. Prayer and more prayers are the only antidote.

The current political landscape in the Philippines reveals a struggle for effective governance under local leadership. To address this issue, it’s time to consider bringing in seasoned practitioners from developed countries rather than relying on ineffective local politicians, as this may provide the skilled leadership necessary for stability and growth.

What really happened to the two-party system? Party allegiances based on platform programs and ideals for the country? What is happening that politicians are winning because of personalities based on political temporary alliances among families.

It’s all about the money. Money begets attention. Attention begets influence. Influence begets power. Power begets money. And money begets more money. We never get to move on from that quagmire that has swallowed us since forever.

I do not remember a time when a ruling administration depended on opposition legislators to go after a previous regime and their cash cows. The plot just thickens.
