Twelve Filipino contemporary artists are set to conquer Japan this October with an art exhibition aptly dubbed “Bijutsu,” a Japanese word that means “fine art.”

The group led by Mylene Quito, an art leader and exhibition organizer, shares that this exhibition will showcase the rich and diverse world of Philippine fine art in Toyono Gallery Vitokuras, one of Osaka’s reputable art galleries. The exhibit will run from Oct. 11 to 20.

The collection represents the uniqueness of each of the participating artists. Quito, also a respected artist in the Philippine art scene, says that the selection will vary from traditional pottery to contemporary masterpieces.

The Osaka-bound group, composed of Allen V. Sanchez, Angelie Banaag, Ann Theresa E. Bolos, Art Lozano, Arturo Arsega Jr., Bing Famoso, Daniel Dumaguit, Franklin Cana, Isah Rodillo, TatEs Cannon, Valerie Teng, and Quito, will bring their unique perspectives and techniques to the canvas, celebrating the country’s artistry in the land of the rising sun.

“We invite our friends, collectors, art enthusiasts to join us in celebrating this cultural exchange as we collaborate with Toyono Gallery Vitokuras (210-1 Yoshikaya,Toyono-cho, Toyono-gun) in Osaka Japan,” says Quito.

Quito hopes Filipino art will be welcomed by the Japanese, who are also known to be lovers of art and beauty.
