ING has new head of APAC wholesale unit

ING on Tuesday announced the appointment of Uday Sareen as the chief executive and head of the Dutch banking giant’s wholesale banking for Asia-Pacific (Apac) markets, which includes the Philippines.

The company said Uday will oversee operations across 11 markets in the region, bringing his extensive expertise and leadership to drive growth and innovation.

ING added that Uday has a “deep understanding of customer needs” and “a wealth of experience in managing segments and products across geographies” from his banking career which spans three decades across the regions of Apac, Europe, EMEA (the Middle East and Africa).

These qualifications, the company said, will help grow the difference in the region for their wholesale banking clients.

“Uday’s extensive experience in wholesale and retail banking, along with his understanding of the Asia-Pacific market, will be invaluable as we continue to grow our business in the region, leveraging our global network and sector expertise to create better value for our clients,” said Andrew Bester, head of ING wholesale banking.

Uday joined ING through their business unit in India back in 2007. He has served as head of their wholesale banking unit for the EMEA since 2020, and was the ING Australia country manager before that post.
