Are you excited to take the Disney cruise?

We didn’t board a cruise ship in Singapore. Yet, for a couple of hours, we were transported into the idea of Disney Adventure: We saw what we would be seeing onboard its roller coaster; got excited that Deadpool would be part of the Marvel heroes; met Elsa, Anna, and Moana; and walked the streets of San Fransokyo.

Walt Disney Imagineering creative director Will Hastings took one look at the replica of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Mouse topiary at the Sands Expo and Convention Center before he proudly declared to Lifestyle that the real thing on the ship would be 10 times better.

The ship will welcome guests to the Disney Imagination Garden, one of the seven themed areas on board. The others are Disney Discovery Reef, San Fransokyo Street, Wayfinder Bay, Town Square, Marvel Landing, and Toy Story Place.

“I am very partial to that part of the ship. We talk about it as being the heart of the ship. It really is a great gathering place to launch your adventure into the rest of the vessel,” Hastings said, noting that the area is almost as big as a football field.

The garden will feature a castle that is over three decks high—a first in Disney Cruises. Staterooms with verandas will surround this garden and become part of its landscape. This is what makes Adventure unique, according to hotel director Lisa Picket. The usual ocean view will still be offered, along with the inside staterooms, but two categories will be added.

“It’s the first time that we’re going to offer the Disney Discovery Reef View and the Imagination Garden View,” said Picket. “It offers a view of the entertainment that will take place below, and of people visiting the numerous shops in the area. Our guests can sit on the veranda or watch what’s happening and become part of it. So it’s a very immersive experience.”

The rooms will have touches of Pixar, Marvel, and Disney titles in terms of art and decor. Picket added that, as far as she knows, no two staterooms will be alike.

First ship

The excitement surrounding Disney Adventure is understandable. It will be the first ship from the Disney Cruise Line to set sail from Singapore on Dec. 15, 2025. Reservations can be made starting Dec. 10. It’s a ship designed to be more accessible to Asian guests, marking a milestone of many firsts.

It is the first to have an adventure zone at Marvel Landing featuring three new rides: Ironcycle Test Run, Pym Quantum Racers, and Groot Galaxy Spin. The Ironcycle is the first roller coaster of Disney Cruises and the longest one at sea, boasting a length of 250 m and a height of up to 9 m. It is set up on the upper decks of the ship, allowing riders to enjoy views of the endless sea during the ride.

Toy Story Place is designed to be a haven for families with toddlers and younger children. Pools, whirlpools, and slides that cater to every age are found in this area. This is also where Pizza Planet is located.

“My favorite in this area is Wheezy’s Freezies. Guests can find themselves a refreshing cool-down treat, meaning all the ice cream you can eat,” said Isabel Caruncho, a Filipino who works as a senior interior designer at Walt Disney Imagineering in Germany.

There are plenty of opportunities to meet the characters, but vice president for live entertainment Jenny Wienbloom made a big announcement: The lineup will include Deadpool.

Disney’s first R-rated superhero has become an icon of daring, thanks to actor Ryan Reynolds’ unconventional promotion of the movie. He’s been added to Disney Plus, and this is his first appearance in Disney Cruises. There are cinemas on the ship that will premiere movies on the same day as they are released on land.

It will take another year before the Disney Adventure sets sail for its maiden voyage, but if it holds true to its promise, it’s going to be Disney Cruises’ best one yet.
