The more euro-centric car guys of the world have always lived the estates, or the tourings, or the wagons. An increasingly specific niche that is driven more by passion than anything else. Now it is fully loaded up yet more well-aimed than ever. The car is a 5, which had the combination of size luxury and presence that many enthusiasts enjoy. It is also an i, so full electric, and has the 5th generation of BMW’s eDrive technology all handling just over 601 hp and 795 Nm coming from twin electric motors. Range is listed as between 445 and 506 kilometers (WLTP).
BMW wagons have always has a very special and very fanatical following. More of the European sportiness than American family mover, though it could actually do both. Here it takes the familiar fan favorites and adds a nod to the demands of the modern world. Lower energy use and lower emissions of course, but also details like a full vegan interior and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System. The driver-oriented interior design though is all still there. Effectively an electrified interpretation of a car that has developed a strong cult following.
