A spectacular Old Girls’ homecoming
“God is in the details.” —Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
With every detail of a grand celebration meticulously attended to, this year’s Assumption Old Girls’ Day Velada was the most spectacular I have ever watched! The Velada host was the Silver Jubilarians, AC High School batch 1999, with their chosen theme “AChieve.”
Guided by the Assumption education 25 years ago, the Silver Jubilarians continue their class motto—“Live in Faith, Serve with Passion, Grow in Love.” With the vision of AC batch 1999’s very own Val del Rosario and backed up by the powerhouse that is Viva Entertainment, the host batch has gone all out for this once-in-a-lifetime event and went on to AChieve a dream concert for all of the alumnae to enjoy whether live or via livestreaming from all over the globe.
College 1999 joined this year’s Velada and performed an electrifying number, just like the Gems from high school Platinum Class of 1954, Blue Diamond Class of 1959, Diamond Class of 1964, Emerald Class of 1969, Gold Class of 1974, Sapphire Class of 1979, Ruby Class of 1984, Jade Class of 1989, Pearl Class of 1994, and of course the Silver Class of 1999.
From the Silvers’ explosive opening number, which set the tone of the show, the heartwarming tribute to teachers and families celebrating the homecoming together, to the powerful curtain call signifying the unity and enjoyment of all the celebrating gems, all the segments and performances were so enjoyable and well-performed.
60th anniversary
I spotted many Assumption jubilarians also at the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) 60th founding anniversary that was celebrated at the historic Centro de Turismo Intramuros. The event was a grand gathering of design luminaries, industry partners and esteemed guests, all gathered to commemorate the organization’s rich history and unwavering commitment to design excellence.
The evening was hosted by PIID’s esteemed Board of Directors, including national president Paolo Castro, national vice president Cyndi Fernandez-Beltran, national secretary Jose Enrico Santiago, national treasurer Lorenzo Valencia III, and executive directors Carla Leonor, Rossy Rojales, Katherine Correa, Carmen Lim-Regala and Christine Villamora.
Special thanks to Intramuros Administration, Oppein, Wilcon Depot, Genteel Home, Adaptive Luxsource Solutions, Hardware Museum, Boysen, Furnitalia, Vertiflute, Dexterton, Endo Lighting Source, Cedarside Industries, Ernestomeda, Euroasia, Wallcrown, Metrotiles, Gessi, North Diamond, 220 Taps n’ Tiles, Poliform, StileItalia, Daikin and Kuysen.
Genteel Home was also our generous sponsor at the Red Charity Gala. We are so grateful for their sponsorship of our gala for two years in a row. Thank you to Katrina de Leon of Genteel Home for her support.
The venue, a beautifully reimagined space within the former San Ignacio Church, served as a fitting backdrop for an evening that celebrated the rich tapestry of Philippine design. The 60th-anniversary celebration was not just a reflection on past achievements, but also a look toward the future. PIID’s commitment to innovation and regional empowerment was evident in the establishment of chapters across the Philippines, the launch of its official website and social media channels, and the creation of the groundbreaking online lifestyle show, “Interior Design Central PH.”
PIID’s 60th-anniversary celebration was a testament to the organization’s unwavering commitment to design excellence, its rich history of achievements and its promising future.
