Our best hope is an educated citizenry but the powers-that-be has been undermining this by consistently underfunding and mismanaging the education sector. Smh!

The article just stated what all of us already know. I hope that it doesn’t get worse before it gets better. Ano ba puedeng gawin to reverse the situation?

References to the Marcos dictatorship and colonialism don’t help because the country was supposed to reverse both after 1987 and yet didn’t (see the Inquirer article “Stuck in ‘87”). That means the cause is lack of foreign investment brought about by a defective Constitution that tried to empower almost everyone and ended up doing the opposite. Bring in more investments, and you have more jobs and income for more Filipinos. With that, they will be less swayed by the local elite and their political partners.
