DepEd, PNU ink program for teachers
The Department of Education (DepEd) has signed an agreement with Philippine Normal University (PNU) on a program meant to enhance teacher education in the country.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara, also as chairperson of the Teachers’ Education Council (TEC), on Thursday signed the agreement with top executives of PNU.
The agreement with PNU will bolster the Research Initiatives in Teacher Education program, which has 13 priority research projects, according to Angara.
Joining him in the signing was TEC Executive Director V Jennie Jocson, PNU president Bert Tuga and PNU vice president Teresita Rungduin.
Angara pointed out that the agreement was also in line with their goal in “reframing” preservice teacher curriculum, building up on the resiliency of the country’s education system, addressing critical areas and having “evidence-based effective practices.”
At the same time, he convened the TEC, as well as their partner institutions, to upgrade the teacher education curriculum, hence the agreement with PNU.
