Toby’s Sports shines as ‘Sporting Goods Retailer of the Year’
Innovating the sports retail experience, Toby’s Sports proudly brought home the “Sporting Goods Retailer of the Year–Philippines” award from the Retail Asia Awards 2024.
This prestigious recognition was one of the accolades handed out at The Retail Asia Awards to highlight the achievements, innovations and excellence in the retail industry across the Asia Pacific region.
This award is meaningful for Toby’s Sports, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary as this was the latest affirmation of the company’s commitment to excellence in the sports retail industry since its founding in 1978.
A culture of sports, fitness
“For over 45 years, Toby’s Sports has been at the forefront of promoting a culture of sports and fitness in the Philippines,” said Jojo Claudio, chair and CEO of Quorum Holdings Inc., the parent company of Toby’s Sports.
“We’ve consistently offered an extensive range of premium products from the best local and international brands, all with the goal of meeting the diverse needs of Filipino athletes and fitness enthusiasts,” he added.
At present, Toby’s Sports carries over 100,000 items from over 160 trusted brands.
“This dedication has solidified our reputation as the nation’s top sports retailer, and we’re incredibly proud that this commitment has been recognized with such a prestigious award,” Claudio noted.
The “Sporting Goods Retailer of the Year–Philippines” award was only one of many this year. Toby’s Sports was also a recipient of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Gold Bagwis Award, given to businesses that exemplified excellence and advocated consumer rights.
Not to mention, Toby’s Sports is included in the Hall of Fame of Most Outstanding Retailers by the Philippine Retailers Association.
Innovations
Today, Toby’s Sports has become a household name in the Philippines by revolutionizing sports and fitness.
Among its recent innovations is Toby’s Elite Loyalty Program, launched in late 2022. Designed to enhance customer engagement and foster brand loyalty, the program quickly gained a large membership base.
The company now has a third flagship store at SM North The Block, joining locations in Bonifacio Global City and SM Mall of Asia–places that offer an elevated experience of sporting goods retail. These reflect a commitment to innovation and expansion.
More to that, the company also opened nine new stores in the past three years, including five franchises, for a total of 64 branches nationwide.
Omnichannel strategy
On top of brick-and-mortar stores, Toby’s Sports owns an e-commerce website, www.tobys.com, one of the most visited sports websites in the country. It is part of the company’s “omnichannel strategy” to offer seamless shopping experiences both online and offline.
Toby’s Sports can also be credited for introducing and promoting new sports. In 2023, it was among the champions of Pickleball, the country’s fastest-growing sport. It did that by putting Pickleball products on its shelves and organizing events to get people familiar with the sport.
The company further broadened into sports events through a new division, Toby’s Events. So far, the team has organized large events for companies such as GCash, PhilamLife and VXI.
