Caap: Airports ready for holiday arrivals, departures
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) said on Tuesday that it has intensified its “operational readiness” across all 44 agency-managed airports to address the expected surge in passenger traffic during the holiday rush.
In a statement, Caap said these measures were in line with “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024” of the Department of Transportation that would be implemented from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3.
“Our mission is to provide passengers with a seamless and efficient travel experience during this festive season. Through strong collaboration with our partners and the implementation of stringent measures, we are steadfast in ensuring the highest standards of safety, security and convenience for all,” Caap Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.
Caap reminded travelers to follow regulations to avoid delays, including rules on prohibited items; to monitor belongings at all times; avoid making bomb jokes, which can result in flight disruptions and severe legal consequences; and plan trips ahead of time.
In 2023, passenger numbers grew to 2.4 million from Dec. to 1 to Dec. 31 and 2.3 million from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31.
The Caap said it was expecting a seven to 10 percent increase in total passenger volume in its airports this holiday season.
