ANMSEC 70 Years of Endurance Forging a Stronger Commitment to Sustainability Through Innovation
Innovations enhanced by networks, skills, and connections that raise the country’s mining industry into becoming a more diverse, safer, and sustainable avenue to boost economic growth — this is PMSEA’s forethought on the recently concluded 70th Annual Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) that happened in Baguio City on 19-22 of November 2024.
PMSEA, or the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association, is promoting occupational safety and health, sound environmental management and social responsibility in the minerals industry.
Meanwhile, ANMSEC, among PMSEA’s banner programs, is a platform for the mining and minerals industry to showcase their approach to prevention, preparedness, and emergency response that started in 1953. Along the way, it evolved into an avenue for the companies to meet their stakeholders and grow their networks. Like platinum, ANMSEC, through the years, has manifested its strength in servicing the Filipino people despite trials that came along the way. In Jewish tradition, 70 years symbolizes a full lifetime but the tradition of the ANMSEC will be passed on to several lifetimes — from generation to generation.
The four-day event saw participants (mining companies, government, LGUs, academe) joining various activities: the Mining Exhibit; sports (golf, bowling, badminton and Mobile Legends); conferences (PMEA Mining Forum, Community Relations Conference, and the Minerals Industry Symposium); the Minerals Industry Parade; the Safety Field Demonstration and Field Competition; social events (Welcome Cocktails, Mining Night); and the most anticipated Testimonial Dinner and Annual Awards Night.
In addition to prioritizing safety, the conference highlighted the importance of continuous support and the acceptance of innovations that propel the industry toward greater sustainability.
