Rainy Friday in Cagayan, other areas nationwide

The shear line and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring rains over parts of the country on Friday, with heavy to intense rainfall expected over Cagayan province.

Moderate to heavy rainfall was also forecast over the provinces of Apayao, Isabela, Palawan, Southern Leyte, Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m. advisory on Thursday.

Localized flooding and landslides in highly susceptible areas may occur due to the amount of rainfall, the state weather bureau added.

“The ITCZ continues to affect Mindanao and now, it is also affecting Palawan,” weather specialist Veronica Torres said, adding that the northeast monsoon or “amihan” continues to affect northern Luzon.
