Clark airport passengers rose 20% in 2024
International travels drove the growth of passenger volume at Clark International Airport in the past year, posting a 20-percent expansion in business activity.
In a statement on Monday, the Pampanga gateway reported it had flown 2.4 million passengers last year, the bulk or 65 of whom were international travelers.
Clark airport, as such, met the lower end of its 2.4-million to 2.7-million passenger volume target for 2024.
The number of flights facilitated by the airport grew by 29 percent to 19,221 last year. More than half had international destinations.
Among its overseas routes are Incheon, Narita, Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai and Taipei.
“These numbers are more than just statistics; they represent the dedication of everyone involved in making [Clark airport] a valuable gateway to the Philippines,” said Noel Manankil, CEO of Clark airport operator Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp.
The Pampanga gateway saw growth in passenger traffic after welcoming more airlines, including Aero-K, Sunlight Air, Air Busan, Hong Kong Express, Starlux and EVA Air.
Local airlines also expanded their operations at the Clark hub, providing more routes to Davao, General Santos, Iloilo and Puerto Princesa, among others.
Amid the momentum of air travel, the Clark International Airport Corp. previously said they were eyeing to build a second runway, which is estimated to cost P7 billion to P10 billion.
In addition, additional P2 billion is seen to be spent for the expansion of taxiways and aprons for new locators, including logistics companies.
