Trio of hitters led by Daquis ready for Farm Fresh

With Rachel Anne Daquis, Jolina Dela Cruz and Lorene Toring getting clean bills of health after the holidays, there’s no doubt that Farm Fresh will enter the resumption of the PVL All-Filipino Conference starting Jan. 18 as a very different team.

“Definitely, within the month,” coach Benson Bocboc said in breaking in his trio as announced by the team’s social media accounts on Thursday. “They have the go signal to play and we will take the time to insert them into the team system.”

ACL injuries

Toring, whose final playing year for Adamson ended up with an unfortunate ACL injury in practice, is excited to finally play.

“I can’t say that I am not scared [in trying out the newly healed knee], but I feel more excited to play,” Toring said in Filipino. “I have been told by team staff to take it easy. But at least, I can start playing already.

“With prayers and hard work [at rehab], I hope the new year is kinder to me and my teammates.”

Dela Cruz also suffered an ACL injury in November 2023 when she was still playing for the defunct F2 Logistics.

Daquis, who signed with Farm Fresh before the All-Filipino after years with Cignal, took the time to regain her top shape after missing PVL action for over a year to focus on her bakery in Spain.

With the trio returning, the Trisha Tubu-led Farm Fresh hopes to rise from 2-3 record in ninth place.
