BIZ BUZZ: Domogan et al. banned from John Hay golf course
Former Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan will just have to look for another golf course where he can continue to play his favorite game.
This, as the board of the state-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has unanimously approved a resolution saying that Domogan is “not allowed to play at the Camp John Hay Golf Course until further notice.”
Banned along with him are Marciano Garcia and Federico Mandapat Jr., who are also with the Camp John Hay Golf Club.
According to BCDA’s Notice to the Public, playing at the Camp John Hay Golf Course “is a privilege and is not a matter of right.”
The golf course was reopened to the public last week under the interim management of Golfplus Management Inc., Turfgrass Management Inc. and DuckWorld PH. BCDA vice president Mark Torres has been appointed interim general manager following BCDA’s takeover of the estate.
“BCDA, as owner of the property, has the right and discretion to allow or deny any person from playing, and to exclude any person from the premises,” the notice said.
Biz Buzz sources speculate that Domogan and Mandapat had been prohibited from playing as they remain determined to pursue their case against BCDA concerning the golf course and yet continue to play there practically every day.
As one source put it, “how can you stay in my house while trying to burn it down?”
According to BCDA Chairperson Hilario Paredes, the agency expects golf shareholders and the club to “respect the rule of law and the government’s ownership of the golf course.”
Paredes added in a statement that BCDA continues to extend the olive branch and urged both individuals “to move on and help the government, and work with BCDA and all stakeholders for the greater interest of the people of Baguio, the golfing community and the Filipino people.”
Will they accept the offer? Abangan!
