Cebu Pacific saw Clark traffic surge in 2024
Cebu Pacific saw busier operations in 2024 at its Clark hub in Pampanga after opening up new routes as the growth in air travel sustains momentum.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Gokongwei-led airline said its passenger volume at Clark International Airport swelled by 36 percent to over 1 million last year.
Throughout the year, the low-cost carrier saw its average monthly ticket sales more than double from 79,000 in January to 161,000 by December, reflecting the usual travel peak during the holidays.
The Pampanga gateway—an alternative to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City—serves travelers from the central and northern Luzon areas such as Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, Isabela and La Union.
“We are delighted by the strong growth we achieved in 2024, which highlights the growing demand for accessible air travel among our passengers from central and northern Luzon,” Cebu Pacific chief marketing and customer experience officer Candice Iyog said.
Last year, the low-cost airline resumed flights from Clark to Davao, General Santos, Iloilo and Puerto Princesa — thus, bridging north and central Luzon to the Visayas-Mindanao region.
It also launched direct flights from Clark to Tagbilaran City last year, helping make popular tourist destination Bohol more accessible.
The airline currently operates 11 domestic and international routes out of the Clark hub, including Bangkok, Hong Kong, Narita and Singapore.
“Cebu Pacific remains steadfast in its commitment to offering affordable and convenient flights, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our customers,” Iyog added.
Last year, the company finalized a P1.4-trillion order of up to 152 jets with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus. It will start taking delivery of the units by 2029.
The additional aircraft will enable the low-cost airline to have a bigger foothold outside Metro Manila, including Davao, Cebu and Clark.
