DMCI Power energy sales hit new high in 2024
DMCI Power Corp., the energy unit of Consunji-led DMCI Holdings Inc., set a new record for energy sales in 2024 amid the rise in consumption and the activation of its Palawan plant.
In a disclosure on Thursday, the company said power sales had reached 491.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh), 8 percent higher than 454 GWh in the previous year.
The off-grid energy provider said it witnessed stronger demand in Palawan, Masbate and Oriental Mindoro during the period. Its 15-megawatt (MW) Palawan Thermal Power Plant, which started delivering power in August 2023, likewise gave a boost to the group’s operations.
DMCI Power president Antonino Gatdula Jr. said, “2024 was a breakthrough year for DMCI Power as we achieved record-high energy sales and ensured reliable operations across all our plants. The sustained growth in demand highlights our critical role in powering off-grid areas.”
The company claimed to be the “largest” off-grid energy supplier in the local market, with 159.8 MW of installed capacity. It operates thermal, bunker and diesel power plants in mentioned provinces.
For 2025, the company is confident about scaling up its portfolio by 27 percent, as it expects to fire up more projects with 43-MW capacity.
The company has two bunker power plant developments in Palawan and Masbate, with a combined capacity of 16 MW. The projects are seen to be operational within the first half.
Renewables
Aside from these, DMCI Power likewise highlighted its entry into the renewable energy market through its 12-MW Semirara wind project. It said the facility, which would supply clean energy to its mining operations on the island, remains on course for commercial operations by “early 2025.”
“DMCI Power remains committed to meeting the growing energy needs of off-grid areas. We were recently awarded contracts to supply 2 MW in Antique and an additional 15 MW in Palawan. Our ongoing and upcoming projects aim to deliver reliable and efficient energy solutions that support national progress,” Gatdula added.
