A total of 903 police officers were dismissed from service in 2024 due to “various offenses,” the Philippine National Police said on Sunday.
Data released by the PNP showed 5,457 police personnel were charged administratively in 3,751 cases last year.
Of these, 2,765 were meted penalties, while 2,691 were exonerated. Those dismissed included five lieutenant colonels, six majors, 12 captains and five lieutenants.
The PNP, however, did not respond to queries by the Inquirer when asked to identify the types of offenses supposedly committed by the erring cops. Other penalties imposed by the PNP leadership included demotion (108), forfeiture of salary (103), reprimand (423), restriction (82) and withholding of privileges (34).
