Bus firm involved in Edsa crash gets suspended

Avatar

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Tuesday that it has issued a preventive suspension order against a bus company after one of its units crashed into another bus on the Edsa busway in Makati City on March 10, leaving 31 passengers injured.

The Earthstar Express Inc. bus, based on reports, lost its brakes and collided with the bus owned by Admiral Transport Inc., which was lining up to load passengers at the Guadalupe station of the busway’s northbound lane.

Eight passengers from the Admiral bus were wounded, in addition to 23 others on the Earthstar bus.

The LTFRB said a show-cause order was also issued against Earthstar, ordering the firm to explain why its franchise should not be revoked.
