Just for women: A junk journaling session

Celebrate being a woman and unleash your creativity at a junk journaling jam happening tomorrow, March 16, at Commune Cafe in Poblacion, Makati, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The fee is P850 (there’s a promo rate of P750 if you bring a buddy) and includes the guided journaling session, access to the art and stationery potluck plus coffee and snacks. Bring a journal and pen and also stickers, washi tapes and other stationery you’d like to share or declutter.

The session, open to women 18 and older, is meant to help you reconnect with your feminine side and inner child. The beautiful thing about junk journaling is you don’t have to be artsy to do it—anyone can do it and enjoy it. It’s a super relaxing, satisfying activity that can be meditative as well.
Belle Mapa, an expressive arts facilitator, will be leading the session. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Mapa who did her first workshop ever at Commune back in 2017.
Rosario Juan, chief extractor of coffee at Commune, told Lifestyle, “We have a whole month of women-led events for Women’s Month. We’ve always hosted community gatherings and this time, we wanted to highlight the talents of women.”

Today, there’s a pottery workshop with Kristine Canlas. On March 21, at 1 p.m., Commune will hold the 2025 Women’s Latte Art Throwdown featuring badass female baristas.
On March 22, 10 a.m., Commune will host a basic gouache painting workshop that will be led by Mia the Hooman.

Also on March 22, from 2 to 5 p.m., there will be a charm-making workshop in partnership with ceramic studio Studio Matisse.
On March 30, Commune will also host a meetup for women cafe owners.
