DOTr chief stops MRT luggage limit

Avatar

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3) general manager Michael Capati to stop limiting passenger luggage size to 2 feet by 2 feet, saying it only makes the lives of commuters even more difficult.

The luggage size limit stemmed from an order of the Office of Transportation Security in 2019, but passengers criticized the rule as “anticommuter” and “antipoor.”

Critics said the train management preferred to overload coaches with passengers to maximize profit. Still others said only a few passengers carry big luggage.
