TCL: 25 years of innovative excellence in PH

Multinational brand TCL Electronics celebrated its 25 years in the Philippines with a spectacular event that lauded recent achievements and unveiled its new innovations as a trusted name in home appliances.

The special occasion, which took place on April 11 at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila, went by the theme “Legendary Moment, Timeless Greatness.” It was the perfect description for TCL’s recognition as the Triple Global Top 1 television brand in mini-LED, Google TV, and large-size TVs (85 inches and above), according to Omdia 2024. It also underscored the high consumer confidence in its innovative line of air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines.

Griffin Zhang, TCL Industries’ general manager for the Asia Pacific Business Group, opened the program that likewise served as the National Key Customers meeting and 2025 New Product Launch Conference of the Philippine branch.

“In the past, TCL has achieved remarkable results in the Philippine market,” he said, mentioning that TV and AC sales hold the top spot, while the refrigerator and washing machine categories maintain rapid growth.

“Today, I would like to communicate with everyone about three aspects of content,” he added. First, TCL became a sponsor of the Olympics starting this year and all the way to Brisbane 2032. Next, the brand continues to strengthen its foray into the artificial intelligence (AI) field. Lastly, it will launch this month the fourth-generation borderless mini-LED TV that is expected to become a worldwide sensation.

TCL Philippines CEO Peter Chen was similarly grateful and upbeat in his speech, declaring, “We are not a follower, but a trailblazer!”

He recalled how the brand began developing in 2000 and steadily grew to become the largest home appliance brand in 2024. Today, the focus is on brand image upgrading to fully communicate its attributes: vibrant, innovative, fashionable, and premium.

Power

“We believe there’s a power that keeps us going on the path to upgrading TCL’s brand value,” he said, and turned to the company’s workforce in the audience, all dressed up for the occasion. “Let’s work together, progress together, and prosper together!”

Bert Cheung, TCL Philippines’ deputy product director for air conditioner, expressed the same sentiments in his speech: “We owe the success of TCL air conditioners in the Philippines to your invaluable support and dedication.”

He then explained how the brand is addressing the three major challenges that the aircon industry is currently facing. This is through technological innovation with three key elements: the fresh air function that addresses the challenge of respiratory health; AI intelligence, which broadens the usage scenarios of air conditioners; and AI energy-saving, which tackles the challenge of high energy consumption.

How this works was shown in his presentation of TCL FreshIn 3.0 air conditioners that wowed the audience. Just imagine giving orders to your aircon on how you want to feel its coolness, while benefiting from its fresh air.

Cyd Montebon, TCL Philippines’ deputy director of sales, and Wesley Yang, deputy director of retail, lead the ceremonial toast.

Equally captivating were the rest of TCL Philippines’ 2025 lineup, as presented by the executives. Charlie Huang, deputy product director of Brownline, revealed that the brand’s most advanced C682 TV set would be launched soon.

Eric Li, senior product manager for washing machines and refrigerators, brought out the next generation of home appliances in his department. The TCL C20 front load washer and dryer emphasizes efficiency and smart technology. Meanwhile, the newly-introduced bottom mounted refrigerator turned out to be a game changer, as it elevates convenience and efficiency in everyday living.

TCL’s global partnership with the International Olympic Committee as the sole home appliance enterprise to sponsor the Olympic Games until 2032 was spotlighted during the event. The company promises to enhance the world’s foremost sporting event by delivering cutting-edge technology to the Olympic Village and improving the global fan experience.

Olympic partner

“Through this partnership, TCL’s innovations will ignite inspiration in the billions, delivering exceptional experiences and contributing to a sustainable future,” said Shae Yu, TCL Philippines’ deputy marketing director. “TCL is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and fostering a better world.”

She added, “Being a worldwide Olympic partner is more than just a badge of honor—it’s a declaration. This partnership allows us to bring the spirit of the Games directly into people’s lives. It’s not just about gadgets—it’s about experiences.

“And of course, we’re doing all this while keeping things sleek, smart, and sustainable. So, whether you’re an athlete chasing gold or just chasing your toddler around the house—we’ve got your back.”

Yu then welcomed on stage a special guest of honor: Olympian EJ Obiena, ranked the world no. 4 in men’s pole vault by the World Athletics Rankings. He currently holds the Asian record with his clearance of 6.00 meters at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, where he won the silver medal.

Obiena expressed his excitement over the partnership, saying that it’s about chasing greatness, constant improvement, and perfection.

“Just as TCL constantly innovates to enhance our lives through their products,” he pointed out, “we athletes approach training with the same mindset: What can I do today that will lead to better performance?”

Actresses Rhian Ramos and Valeen Montenegro are TCL’s brand partners.

The program also served as the launch of actresses Rhian Ramos and Valeen Montenegro as TCL’s brand partners. They disclosed in a chat onstage with the event hosts their favorites among the brand’s product line.

Ramos said she’s totally hooked on the FreshIN 3.0 aircon with its voice command feature that works even without Wi-Fi. She described it as “a perfect example of how TCL is making tech smarter and more intuitive for everyday life.”

For Montenegro, the TCL QD Mini-LED TV “truly changed the game at home,” turning a personal space into her own full-on entertainment hub. She added, “Especially for someone who loves staying home and just inviting friends over, the QLED picture is so clear and vibrant—it never disappoints!”

The evening ended on a high note with a celebratory toast led by Cyd Montebon, deputy director of sales, and Wesley Yang, deputy director of retail. Here’s to the next 25 years—and beyond!
