Early morning fire in Tondo destroys 500 houses
Around 1,500 families were affected when a massive fire broke out before dawn on Wednesday in a residential area in Tondo, Manila, where most of the houses were made of light materials.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze, which destroyed around 500 houses, started before 2 a.m. on Road 10 in Barangay 123 and spread rapidly.
Around 100 fire trucks rushed to the site before a fire out was declared at 11:05 a.m.
The cause of the blaze, which started in a two-story house, is still under investigation, the BFP said.
