Gov’t starts driver’s license, vehicle plate delivery, monitoring system

Tired of long lines or endless hours—or even days—waiting to get the driver’s license or license plate you already paid for?
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has started a service to deliver driver’s licenses and license plates to motorists’ homes and an online platform for clients to track these deliveries real time.
Called “LTO Tracker,” the new technology will provide access to the agency clients to track the status of their driver’s licenses and motor vehicle plates in real time and have them delivered straight to their doorsteps through an accredited courier service.
Motor vehicle owners can log on to ltotracker.com, where they can inquire about the status of their driver’s license or license plate, update delivery details, and prebook their license or plates for delivery.
The platform also provides real-time tracking, enabling users to monitor their plate’s journey from the LTO facility to their doorstep.
Foreigners are not eligible to use this service. Foreign driver’s licenses must be delivered through the Philippine postal service.
“This is a historic move toward full digitalization and a game-changing innovation that will bring LTO services closer than ever to Filipinos, right at their fingertips,” Transportation Secretary Vivencio Dizon said in a statement.
According to Dizon, the LTO Tracker will do away with the traditional long lines and endless waiting in every transaction and agency, but stressed that there will still be an option for those who prefer to pick up their documents personally.
He said the system ensures a more organized and efficient process at LTO offices.
According to LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II, the delivery service for driver’s licenses and license plates was intended to resolve the backlog of motor vehicle plates that has plagued the country since 2014.
“The President’s vision to digitalize government services is one we fully support and adamant about implementing. This is not just about delivering plates. This is about restoring trust in the LTO, improving public service, and demonstrating that we are capable of modernizing our processes to meet the expectations of the Filipino people,” Mendoza said.
In order to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the service, Mendoza said the LTO has accredited nine courier service providers to handle plate deliveries nationwide as fast as possible, even to the most remote areas of the country.
“This is part of our vision to bring government services closer to the people. By leveraging technology, we can eliminate the need for vehicle owners to personally visit LTO offices, saving time, effort and resources. This is a significant step toward digitalizing our processes as envisioned by the President,” he added.
