Who else? UST grabs overall title
University of Santo Tomas (UST) will have a little momentum heading into UAAP Season 88, where it will be the host school.
For the eighth straight time, UST was hailed, general champion of the premier varsity league after another show of overall might across several sports disciplines.
“UST and its community are happy. It [championship] only shows the continued dominance of our sports program in the UAAP,” said UST Institute of Physical Education and Athletics director, Fr. Rodel Cancancio, OP.
The university’s high school program, meanwhile, topped the general championship race in its division for the ninth straight time.
The senior teams notched medals in 24 out of the 31 events: eight golds, seven silvers and nine bronzes. It was the 48th time that UST won the general championship trophy.
“[The general championship] will continue to serve as a challenge for all of us to do better next season and I know the other UAAP schools would feel the same way,” Cancancio said.
The high school student-athletes notched 23 medals out of 24 events. They secured 11 golds, 11 silvers and one bronze to seal their 24th title in the division.
