Pan Xenia Fraternity and Adelfe Enu Crea Sorority: A Century of Leadership and Legacy

Brods’ fellowship and planning for the Pan Xenia’s Centennial anniversary

Quezon City, Philippines – The Pan Xenia Fraternity (PX) and Adelfe Enu Crea Sorority (AEC), two of the University of the Philippines Diliman’s most distinguished Greek-letter organizations, have long been pillars of business leadership, academic excellence, and nation-building. With a combined legacy spanning over a century, these organizations continue to produce outstanding alumni who shape the country’s economic, political, and cultural landscape.

On September 20, 2025, the Pan Xenia-Adelfe Enu Crea (PX-AEC) Foundation, in partnership with the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc., will host a spectacular musical celebration at the UP Theatre, UP Diliman. The concert, titled, Tuloy Po Kayo: Celebrating Decades of Business Unusual, will feature performances by the UP Concert Chorus and the UP Symphony Orchestra, commemorating the fraternity’s Philippine chapter’s 102nd anniversary and the sorority’s 34th anniversary.

Pan Xenia Fraternity: A Century of Business and Leadership

Founded on May 7, 1919, at the University of Washington by Dr. Juan Anton De Haas, the Pan Xenia Fraternity was established as an international professional fraternity focused on foreign trade. Its Philippine Alpha Chapter was inaugurated on September 23, 1923, at UP Diliman, through the efforts of Dr. Macy Skinner, a professor from the University of Washington.

Over the decades, Pan Xenia has evolved into a premier organization promoting ethical business, leadership, and civic engagement. Its members have risen to prominence in various fields. Notable alumni to mention a few include: Cesar E.A. Virata – former Prime Minister of the Philippines and Dean of the UP College of Business Administration;

Manuel B. Villar Jr. – former Senate President and Speaker of the House, now one of the Philippines’ most successful business tycoons; Jaime C. Laya – former Governor of the Central Bank and Chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA); Dr.Fidel Nemenzo – current President of the Pan Xenia Adelfe Enu Crea Foundation and former Chancellor of UP Diliman; Dr. Mahar Mangahas –  current Chairman of the Pan Xenia – Adelfe Enu Crea Foundation,  Chairman Emeritus of Social Weather Station and a recipient of the Helen Dinerman Award of the World Association fo Public Opinion Research (WAPOR); Nonoy Quimbo, founder of Novellino Wines and Atty. Ruudyard Arbolado – President and CEO of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.  In 2023, Pan Xenia marked its 100th year in the Philippines with grand festivities at Brod Manny Villar’s Britanny Hotel, BGC reinforcing its commitment to fostering business innovation and leadership.

Adelfe Enu Crea Sorority: Sisters in Business

The Adelfe Enu Crea (AEC) Sorority, meaning “Sisters in Business” in Greek, was formally established on April 2, 1991, by 15 pioneering women who transitioned from the Pan Xenia Ladies’ Corps. As the first and only business sorority in UP Diliman, AEC is dedicated to empowering women in business, leadership, and social responsibility. Notable alumni to mention a few include Sharon Dayoan – Chairman and CEO of KPMG R.G. Manabat and co-founder of the Filipina CEO Circle; Cielo Magno – former Dept of Finance Undersecretary and professor at the UP School of Economics;  Badgie Trinidad – CEO of The Cravings Group and founder of Center for Culinary Arts (CCA);  Cheryl Ching-Sy – Vice President and OIC of the Entertainment Group of GMA Network; Abbie Dans-Casanova – President and CEO of SB Finance (an affiliate of Security Bank) and current Treasurer of the PX-AEC Foundation. Impactful initiatives by the AEC include: YoU-turn: a seminar series on personal and professional growth; LoveRage: a concert on social consciousness during the UP Fair and outreach programs supporting farmers and fisherfolk including Bacolod’s Agr-Fishery Digital platform program led by alumni sis Lissa Jardin, a social entrepreneur and also a member of the board of trustees of the Pan Xenia – Adelfe Enu Crea Foundation.

As they celebrate their anniversaries,  the “Tuloy Po Kayo” concert promises to be a night of music, storytelling, and reflection on a century of brotherhood, sisterhood, and transformative leadership.
