Four person have been arrested in San Ildefonso, Bulacan, for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake license plates.
The suspects, who were presented by Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to the media on Tuesday but not identified, were arrested in an entrapment operation carried out by personnel of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on July 12.
Seized from the four were marked money, 51 fake plates, printing machines, computers, a machine press, four cutting machines, a vinyl reflectorized film, a hole machine, 14 trays of acrylic letters, three acrylic borders and a cold lamination machine.
The confiscated items have an estimated value of P400,000, the LTO reported.
“We will not stop, this is just the first of the many we want to shut down. We will file charge against those doing these types of activities,” Dizon said.
The suspects face charges of violating Presidential Decree No. 1730 and Article 2, Section 31 of Republic Act No. 4136.
