PH slips 3 places in digital competitiveness ranking

The Philippines slipped three spots to 59th place in the global ranking report on digital competitiveness, falling behind several of its peers in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) as it records decline in areas such as talent, training and education and regulatory framework.

This is according to the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2023 Report published by the Swiss-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD) which covers 64 countries.

The Philippines fell from 56th place last year, after it arrested three years of consecutive drops in 2022.

Compared to other countries in Asean, it was behind Singapore which ranked 3rd, Malaysia at 33rd, Thailand at 35th and Indonesia at 45th.The top five countries in the report are the United States, the Netherlands, Singapore, Denmark, and Switzerland.

The report showed that the Philippines’ ranking fell across all three digital competitiveness factors measured, which are knowledge, technology and future readiness.The Philippines saw the biggest declines in the subfactors under future readiness, with its rank in adaptive attitudes falling from the 58th to the 59the place, business agility from the 45th to the 50th place, and information technology integration from 57th to the 60th spot.
