Time Ceramics invests P292M to expand Batangas facility

Ceramic manufacturer Time Ceramics Philippines Inc. is spending about P292 million to expand its processing and manufacturing facility in San Pascual town in Batangas province.
The local subsidiary of China-based multinational firm Time Ceramics said the company was expanding to meet an expected surge in local and export demand for their products.
Particularly, the undertaking will meet the growing need for “durable and aesthetically appealing” construction materials in residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
According to Time Ceramics’ application to amend its environmental compliance certificate (ECC), it plans to expand its production capacity by over 818 percent to 450,000 metric tons (MT) from the current level of 49,000 MT.
“With rapid urbanization, infrastructure development, and increasing consumer preference for high-quality flooring and wall finishes, the tile industry presents a lucrative investment opportunity,” Time Ceramics Philippines said in a filing with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Environmental Management Bureau.
The company intends to produce cost-effective and sustainable ceramic products by leveraging on locally available raw materials, including clay, feldspar and silica.
“Additionally, advancements in manufacturing technology enable energy-efficient production processes, reducing costs and environmental impact,” it said.
Time Ceramics Philippines will employ a combination of material substitution, process improvements and pollution control technologies to mitigate the release of toxic chemicals in its ceramic tile manufacturing process.
For its raw materials, the firm intends to reduce dependency on virgin materials and support circular economy initiatives by using recycled industrial by-products such as fly ash, glass waste and nickel laterite mine waste as a substitute for traditional clay and feldspar.
“Combined with strong environmental management policies and worker safety measures, these alternatives support the company’s goal of sustainable, eco-friendly production,” it added.
