Valuable North points up for grabs at Riviera

Valuable ranking points for the Elite Junior Finals will be up for grabs at the resumption of the ICTSI JPGT Series, which enters its homestretch starting on Monday when the circuit makes a crucial stop at Riviera Golf Club in Carmona in Cavite.
Three divisions in each of the boys’ and girls’ brackets loom as wide open races and six standouts are looking to formalize their places in the North and South rosters for the main event slated in October at The Country Club in Laguna.
The finals will be a Ryder Cup-style tournament pitting the best against the best and making those teams rest on performances at Riviera and the two postponed Visayas legs that have been rescheduled to take place on Sept. 15 to Sept. 17 (Negros) and Sept. 18 to Sept. 20 (Bacolod).
Alexis Nailga has already sealed his place on the boys’ 15-18 South team after going undefeated in three legs, while young Jamie Barnes is the region’s 7-10 boys’ spearhead.
Mavis Espedido, Zach Guico, twins Lisa and Mona Sarines, Ryuji Suzuki and Rafa Anciano are the frontrunners for the North squad, where they need just strong outings at Riviera to formalize their spots.
Also shooting for places In the girls’ 7-10 category are notables Penelope Sy, Tyra Garingalao and Venus delos Santos, while Zoji Edoc, Halo Pangilinan, Kingston Ching and James Padron are some of the boys worth watching.
Battle in the premier 15-18 division for girls is expected to be tight as Anciano and Chloe Rada are challenged by Tiffany Bernardino and Angelica Bañez.
