Temasek unit buys 16% stake in Ayala health-care arm

Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health) has secured a new Temasek Group-backed minority investor, marking another regional partnership to boost its expansion plans.
The Zobel family-led company on Monday said ABC Impact would infuse “primary capital” into AC Health for a 16-percent shareholding. This is the Singapore-based company’s first venture in the Philippines after its health-care investments in India, China and Vietnam.
“This partnership creates valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, technology transfer and the adoption of global best practices,” AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo said in a statement.
According to AC Health, the capital will primarily support its expansion of its network of hospitals, multispecialty clinics and retail pharmacies.
By 2027, AC Health plans to have at least 10 hospitals, 300 clinics and 1,150 pharmacies across its portfolio, which includes Healthway Medical Network, Generika Drugstore, IE Medica, MedEthix and St. Joseph Drug.
At the same time, ABC Impact will provide regional insights and networks to allow AC Health to tap “clinical excellence and health-care innovation” across the region.
“We believe AC Health is well-positioned to deliver meaningful social outcomes alongside sustainable growth,” ABC Impact CEO David Heng said.
ABC Impact is part of the Temasek Group through Temasek Trust Asset Management.
Last week, AC Health also announced its partnership with an Indonesian pharmaceutical group to strengthen its medicine distribution services in the country.
Under its agreement with Dexa Group, it will distribute affordable medicine and other medical products by Glorious Dexa Mandaya Philippines through AC Health’s network.
“This partnership builds on our shared commitment to make health care more accessible while raising the bar on quality,” Borromeo said in a separate statement.
This marks the entry of the Dexa Group, one of Indonesia’s largest pharmaceutical companies, in the Philippines.
“By bringing together Dexa’s research capabilities with AC Health’s reach and mission-driven orientation, we are laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and future-ready health-care system,” Dexa Group CEO Ferry Soetikno said.
