Foton PH reinforces commitment to electrifying businesses

Besides being among the top 15 best-selling carmakers in the Philippines in 2024, Foton Motor Philippines Inc. (FMPI) has also made its name in commercial electric vehicles (EV).
The company emphasized this last Friday when it conducted its “EV Forward” showcase to its various business partners at the FMPI assembly plant in Clark, Pampanga – they include major corporations like DB Schenker, Holcim, XDE Logistics and its newest client, DHL Summit Solutions, Inc.
“Foton stands at the forefront of sustainable transport solutions and a leading proponent of full Electric Vehicle solutions for both businesses and communities,” said FMPI general manager Levy Santos in a speech.
“Our vision is clear: to provide mobility that not only drives productivity, but also protects the environment, reduces fuel costs, and minimizes maintenance expenses – empowering enterprises to achieve greater operational efficiency while contributing to a cleaner, greener future,” he added.
Electrified fleets
Foton Philippines’ efforts are part of a broader industry trend to incorporate battery EVs in fleets.
Under Republic Act 11697 or the “Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act,” private companies and government agencies must include EVs, whether owned or leased, for at least five percent of their vehicles within the timeline of the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry.
The law specifically mentions companies involved in cargo logistics, freight forwarding, parcel and food delivery, tour agencies, and power and water utilities. Public-transport operators, including tricycles, school services and tourist-transport services, are also included, along with local governments and government-owned-and-controlled corporations.

Comprehensive lineup
To cater to this growing market, Foton Philippines has been offering a wide range of commercial EVs that it claims can save up to 60 percent in fuel and maintenance over a five-year period.
In the light-commercial segment, the company offers the Transvan Cargo EV and the Harabas TM300 EV, while the Traveller Sierra EV is available for passenger-transport duties. Larger businesses could also choose from the Tornado 3.6 EV light-duty truck and the EST 6×4 Tractor Head EV heavy-duty truck.
Finally, bus companies can carry commuters in the upcoming AUV Bus EV. All Foton commercial EVs come with a 3-year/100,000-kilometer (whichever comes first) general warranty and a 5-year/200,000-kilometer warranty (whichever comes first) for the electrical system.
“At FOTON, we believe in practical innovation — delivering technology that serves a real-world purpose, especially in the context of Filipino businesses,” Santos said. “Our EV lineup reflects this philosophy: offering sustainable transport solutions without compromising power, reliability, and profitability.”
Full EV support
FMPI also offers clients end-to-end charging stations ranging from 3.5 kW to over 600 kW, as well as support from certified EV technicians and free EV maintenance workshops.
In addition, the carmaker provides 24/7 assistance with the ECMobile On-Site Service truck, which can handle preventive maintenance services, diagnostics and repairs for the engine, electrical system, air-conditioner, mechanical components and underchassis. It sources parts from various warehouses in Manila, Clark and Laguna.
“Today, we offered a glimpse into the future of transport logistics – one that is cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable,” said FMPI deputy sales director Josh Sytin in a speech.
“But Foton’s commitment doesn’t stop at delivering electric vehicles,” he added. “We are dedicated to providing a complete ecosystem designed to support your operations with integrated, future-ready solutions.”
Will pushing further into commercial EVs give FMPI the jolt it needs to shoot up the sales charts?
