From West End glory to Manila’s spotlight: Christine Allado leads The Bodyguard The Musical

The Philippines’ own Christine Allado—a Grammy-nominated artist, West End leading lady, and international star—is set to return home in spectacular fashion as she takes on the legendary role of Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard The Musical, opening this September at the brand-new Proscenium Theater at Rockwell Center Makati.
From Manila to the world stage, Christine has built a career that few can match. She first rose to international acclaim as part of the original London cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, where she played Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds, earning her critical praise and nominations at the WhatsOnStage and IARA Awards. She went on to star in DreamWorks’ The Prince of Egypt as Tzipporah, lending her soaring vocals to the iconic anthem “When You Believe.” The recording went on to receive a Grammy nomination, cementing her status as one of the most exciting musical theatre voices of her generation.
Her versatility has been showcased across an impressive list of West End productions: Vanessa in In the Heights, Meat in We Will Rock You, Ursula in Sweet Charity, Julie Jordan in Carousel, and performances in Here Lies Love, From Here to Eternity, and The Phantom of the Opera. She has also co-starred alongside legends Lea Salonga and Bernadette Peters in Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends at the Gielgud Theatre. The acclaimed revue then premiered in Los Angeles before transferring to Broadway earlier this year.
Beyond the stage, Christine has captivated global audiences in arenas, touring extensively as the featured guest artist of world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli, performing for tens of thousands across Europe and Asia. She has also graced the Royal Albert Hall in Magic at the Musicals, headlined concerts of The Music of Hans Zimmer and The Lord of the Rings across Europe, and appeared in international film and TV projects, from Disney+ to the BBC.
She currently stars as Esmeralda in the much-anticipated West End premiere of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, with performances set to take place this August at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Christine’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. From her beginnings performing in Manila, to training at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London, she has climbed the heights of global musical theatre. And now, she returns to her homeland to embody Rachel Marron, the role made iconic by Whitney Houston in the blockbuster film.
With her crystalline vocals, commanding presence, and proven ability to breathe fresh life into iconic roles, Christine is uniquely suited to take on the challenge of Rachel Marron. Like Whitney Houston before her, she is both a powerhouse vocalist and a magnetic actress—able to capture the glamour of a superstar while revealing the vulnerability of a woman caught between love and danger.
Christine herself shares, “Rachel Marron is a role that requires every part of you as an artist. To be able to bring her to life here in Manila is incredibly special. This feels like a true homecoming, and I can’t wait to share this story and this music with everyone.”

With Whitney Houston’s unforgettable hits—“Run to You,” “I Have Nothing,” “Greatest Love of All,” and the timeless “I Will Always Love You”—The Bodyguard The Musical promises an electrifying theatrical event. And with Christine Allado at its center, audiences can expect not only a celebration of a classic story, but also the triumphant homecoming of a Filipina who has conquered the world stage.
Rockwell proudly presents The Bodyguard The Musical, in collaboration with 9 Works Theatrical, as the inaugural production at the 780-seat Proscenium Theater—a cultural landmark set to redefine Manila’s performing arts scene.
