A stage like no other: World-class features elevate the Proscenium Theater for The Bodyguard The Musical

A new stage is poised to transform the city’s cultural landscape.

The Proscenium Theater, designed by internationally renowned architect Carlos Ott, welcomes audiences this September with Rockwell’s debut production—a 9 Works Theatrical staging of The Bodyguard The Musical.

The Proscenium Theater offers not just world-class performances, but also the ease of being steps away from curated retail and dining experiences.

World-class features

Named after the classic proscenium arch that frames a stage, the Proscenium Theater channels the timeless elegance of theater design into a bold new cultural landmark in Rockwell Center Makati’s skyline.

Inside, its world-class features are designed to accommodate an extraordinary range of performances—from grand orchestral concerts and operas to intimate plays, dance productions, and recitals.

The 780-seat main hall is anchored by a 16 x 16 meter stage, proportioned for an ideal audience-to-stage connection. A fully automated fly line system allows for seamless scene changes, while the orchestra pit and versatile black box theater expand the possibilities for diverse programming.

During previous test performances—including a full choir and symphony orchestra—the theater’s custom-engineered acoustic shell created an immersive soundscape, allowing every instrument and voice to resonate with remarkable warmth, articulate clarity, and even projection.

The shell’s design ensured that each note reached the audience with the same richness and precision, no matter where they were seated.

The main hall boasts an impressive 780-seating capacity.

Full acoustic capabilities

This sonic excellence is elevated by the presence of a Steinway & Sons concert grand piano, a benchmark instrument for the world’s leading concert halls. Known for depth of tone, responsiveness, and expressive range, the Steinway complements the hall’s acoustics to create performances of exceptional musical detail, whether in a solo recital or as part of a full orchestral score.

A standout feature is the acoustic shell, crafted with precision to enhance natural sound projection so that music and dialogue carry with clarity and warmth to every corner of the hall.

Its modular structure adapts to performances of all scales—from intimate recitals to full-scale orchestral productions. Audiences can look forward to future concerts and productions that will showcase the theater’s full acoustic capabilities, from symphonies to choral works.

The Bodyguard The Musical

Meanwhile, be among the first to experience the Proscenium Theater as it opens its curtains for its inaugural show: The Bodyguard The Musical.

This debut production brings home one of the Philippines’ most celebrated international talents—Grammy-nominated artist and West End star Christine Allado, renowned for her standout performances in Hamilton, The Prince of Egypt, In the Heights, and most recently as Esmeralda in the UK premiere concert of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

She now steps into the iconic role of Rachel Marron, first made famous by Whitney Houston. Sharing the stage with her is West End leading man Matt Blaker, who has commanded global audiences in roles such as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, James in Jesus Christ Superstar, Billy Flynn in Chicago, and now taking on the role of Frank Farmer.
