Rhenus invests $20M for PH expansion

With more than 100 years of experience in the freight forwarding industry, the German-based Rhenus Group is firming up its presence in the Philippines with a $20-million package of investments.

The global logistics provider will expand its services, which are consolidated in a new head office in Pasay City. This is mainly an expanded Global Shared Service Center that is intended to strengthen support for international operations and enhanced warehousing capabilities in 2026.

The new head office will house a range of solutions and consolidate its entities in one location. These are Rhenus Air & Ocean (international freight forwarding business), Rhenus Warehousing Solutions (warehousing and contract logistics) and Rhenus Freight Intelligence (global shared service center).

The facility is located along Bayshore Avenue near the SM Mall of Asia complex. It spans nearly 1,000 square meters, to support future business expansion and workforce growth.

Rhenus said in a statement that the facility is centrally located in between the sea and the airport. Also, it offers improved access to key business districts, clients, partners, attracts a new talent pool and has strong connections to major transport routes.

“This step allows us to create synergies across our business units, support future business expansion while being close to customers and partners,” said Marco Heer, managing director of Rhenus Philippines, Air & Ocean.

The group’s other plans include the opening of a new built-to-suit warehouse, slated to be completed by 2026. The 20,000 sqm warehouse is intended to be one of the highest compliant warehouses in the Philippines, catering to dangerous goods (DG) and non-DG products.

This new warehouse is an addition to the current five warehousing facilities in Manila, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao.
