BDO partners with VinGroup to push green transportation

Local banking giant BDO Unibank has committed to bankroll green transportation in partnership with Vietnamese conglomerate VinGroup, which has deployed the Philippines’ first all-electric taxi fleet alongside charging stations.

In a press statement on Wednesday, BDO announced its commitment to provide end-to-end banking solutions to allow various operating units of VinGroup to scale operations.

The operating units are: VinFast Auto Philippines Inc. (VinFast Philippines), a fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer; V-Green Charging Station Development Philippines Inc. (V-Green), a pioneer in EV charging infrastructure; and Green and Smart Mobility Philippines Inc. (Green GSM Philippines), an all-electric taxi fleet operator.

By supporting VinFast Philippines, BDO said it was enabling the group to expand the availability of electric vehicles (EVs), strengthen ride-hailing services and bring more sustainable transport options to the Philippine market.

Through this partnership, VinFast Philippines is given access to BDO’s comprehensive suite of banking solutions, which include cash management, consumer banking and insurance services.

“At VinFast, we view sustainable transportation as more than just a technological shift—it’s a commitment to future generations,” said Duong Thi Thu Trang, VinFast deputy CEO of sales and marketing.

Greater access

“Partnering with BDO, a trusted and forward-thinking financial institution, allows us to empower Filipinos with greater access to EVs while helping shape a smarter, greener and more livable urban future.”

The partnership extends beyond vehicles. V-Green has already secured approvals to set up EV charging stations at four SM Supermalls. Further expansion is planned within the BDO-SM ecosystem.

“Charging infrastructure is essential for sustainable EV growth,” said Nguyen Thanh Duong, CEO of V-Green.

Meanwhile, Green GSM Philippines completed the integration with BDO’s digital banking platform in June 2025.
