ALI unveils Ascenda estate in Davao City

Ayala Land Inc. is making its boldest move yet in Mindanao with a P10.3-billion investment in Ascenda, a 204-hectare estate that marks the property giant’s largest development here.
This masterplanned estate, which will be developed in partnership with the Anflo Group of Companies, was officially launched on Saturday with a blessing and groundbreaking ceremony in its site in Toril, Davao City. Envisioned to become Davao’s nature-inspired, progressive Southern getaway, Ascenda is seen to capture the rising demand for mixed-use communities in one of the Philippines’ fastest growing urban centers.
Gracing the ceremony were top executives of Ayala Land and Anflocor, led by Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, vice chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land president and CEO Anna Ma. Margarita B. Dy, Anflocor chairperson Ma. Linda Lagdameo, Anflocor vice chairman Ricky Floirendo, and Davao City Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte.
“This is truly a landmark moment for us. Ascenda is Ayala Land’s 54th estate and our third here in Davao. Being a city on the rise, with its economic growth outpacing national average, we are proud and excited to be part of Davao’s growth story,” Ayala Land president and CEO Anna Ma. Margarita B. Dy said in her speech at the launch.

According to Dy, major infrastructure projects like the Davao-Samal Bridge, the Davao City Coastal Road, and Davao City Bypass Road are all unlocking new connectivity and opportunities, placing Ascenda in a good position to benefit from Davao’s momentum.
“Davao has been in Ayala’s radar since the 1970s. We were the first major property developer to invest in Davao City when we launched Insular Village in 1976. Then, in 2007, we developed Abreeza, and then Azuela Cove in 2017. Now the time has come for us to go full blast here in Davao with our largest estate development ever in the VisMin region,” Dy added.
Ascenda is said to mark a series of firsts for Ayala Land in the region. It is the first Ayala horizontal estate in Mindanao and will offer, so far, the only Ayala Land Premier residential village, Virendo, in Davao City.
According to Dy, Ascenda will be offering Davaoeños a “new space to grow and an environment attuned to their modern, upgraded lifestyles”.
“(We’re offering) an opportunity to be part of something different and something new—and decades later, we’re hoping our investors and our residents will feel fortunate to have been part of this and to have made that decision early on,” Dy said.
Ascenda will feature a 65-ha Town Center, a 139-ha residential district, an Eco Park, which is Ascenda’s version of Singapore’s Bishan Park, prime commercial lots, greenways, a church, and shopping streets.
