Icons of the past sparkle in this curated exhibition by Nicole Whisenhunt

The art of jewelry lies beyond just the aesthetic. For centuries, it has become a wearable vessel for both meaning and beauty. Different materials and shapes have come to convey particular messages, and where and how they’re worn could signify status or affiliation, or even symbolize luck, protection, and other personal meanings.

In media, jewelry has also been used to represent ideas or serve as tools to drive the story. Many films feature iconic pieces of jewelry, each one enriching symbolism and storytelling.

Jewelry designer Nicole Whisenhunt deeply acknowledges the heritage of this wearable art, as her brand, Whisenhunt Fine Jewelry, presented “The Heritage Collection: Icons of the Past,” a specially curated exhibition at Leon Gallery. The exhibition, which ran from Oct. 1 to 5, celebrated the timeless artistry of jewelry, drawing inspiration from iconic jewelry moments in cinema, spanning and reimagining the many eras of elegance.

Vintage pieces from luxury design houses like Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., and Georges L’Enfant were featured alongside Whisenhunt’s own creations. The highlight of the collection was a rare Hemmerle Torque vintage choker, an 18K gold and platinum piece with white and brown diamonds.

“We’re truly honored to be hosted by Leon Gallery International, a space that showcases the most important artists,” says Whisenhunt. “Through this exhibition, we wanted to show that jewelry stands parallel to art—especially pieces with history, which go far beyond beauty.”

The Whisenhunt Fine Jewelry boutique is located at R2 Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City, where clients are invited to explore the brand’s curated collections and bespoke creations
