The magic of Christmas: Creating my own winter wonderland
The magic of Christmas begins when our hearts warm up with the feeling of holiday cheer and the excitement of filling our homes with themed ornaments, lights, and the traditional belen.
Every year, my Christmas theme varies depending on the trending color scheme, the available options in shops, and the mood of the season. Since my granddaughter, Naia Prieto, is recently into Frozen, I decided to create a winter wonderland complete with artificial snow and snowflakes.

With the help of my SM Store personal shoppers, I was able to swiftly pick all the ornaments, ribbons, pillows, Christmas balls, pine trees, garlands, glasses, frosted foliage, and blue lights. Always keeping my decorations bright and sparkly, I make sure to create new centerpieces and set them next to the older pieces. I recycle my décor but always replace the lights for safety. Make sure to check all the old Christmas lights and never leave the lights on when no one is around.
To create a cozy winter atmosphere, I added soft furnishings with throw pillows featuring pine tree designs and used lace curtains as my tree skirting. I found so many beautiful blue glasses and plates at SM Home, so I created a dinner tablescape showcasing the items I bought. To add to the dining setup, I got blue placemats, coasters, and napkin rings.
The star of Christmas is the Christmas tree. SM Home’s design staff assisted me in decorating my tree and taught me a few tricks to fill up the tree with ease. They were like Christmas elves, magically designing the entire tree. They also assisted with smaller trees to add to my living room’s festive look.
Combining my old ornaments with the new ones, I added more drama at the bottom of my tree with white Santa décor and silver and blue balls in various sizes. I found some crystal vases at SM Home, at SM Store and used them all over my house to add holiday cheer in every corner.
