Retail roundup: New openings redefining how we shop and discover

Colleen Cosme

The local retail scene is brimming with fresh concepts that are reshaping how Filipinos shop, discover, and connect with brands. This season, innovation meets intention as new destinations open their doors, each offering a distinct experience that goes beyond the usual browse and buy.

From a royal French fragrance house finally finding a home in Manila to an editorial-led beauty space reimagining discovery, and a cult-favorite lifestyle brand expanding its universe in Bonifacio High Street, here’s what’s new and noteworthy.

Parfums de Marly brings French fragrance heritage to Manila

New in the Philippine fragrance scene, Parfums de Marly introduces a touch of French luxury to Manila with its first-ever boutique in the country, located on the ground floor of Glorietta 4. Known for its opulent, long-lasting compositions and modern reinterpretations of 18th century perfume artistry, the niche fragrance house marks an exciting new chapter for local scent lovers seeking something truly distinctive.

The fragrance world is undergoing a shift. People are growing weary of mass-produced scents that smell alike, craving instead something unique, more faceted, and deeply personal. Today, fragrance has become emotional and subjective, an intimate form of self-expression that resonates with one’s inner world. That is the essence of Parfums de Marly: scents that stir emotion, evoke memory, and command curiosity.

“Julien Sprecher doesn’t want to smell anything outside,” shared Victor Saint-Père, chief commercial officer of Parfums de Marly, during the Manila launch. “He doesn’t want to repeat or follow trends. He creates fragrances that he believes in, ones he finds super interesting.” This philosophy is at the heart of the brand’s creative process, where intuition and artistry guide every blend rather than the dictates of the market.

Founded by Sprecher in 2009, Parfums de Marly draws inspiration from the grandeur of the royal court of King Louis XV, often regarded as the golden age of French perfumery. Each creation pays homage to that era’s decadence and craftsmanship while remaining firmly rooted in the present. The result is a collection of fragrances that are rich, textured, and unmistakably modern.

Among its icons are Delina, a radiant rose-based composition celebrated for its balance of femininity and strength, and Layton, a magnetic woody-spicy scent beloved for its sophistication and warmth. Each tells a story, unfolding like a character that is complex, memorable, and undeniably elegant.

The Manila opening drew a star-studded crowd, including Juliana Gomez and Claudia Barretto, while fans eagerly gathered to catch a glimpse of WilliamEst, the adored Thai pairing of William Jakrapatr and Est Supha, whose appearance sent waves of excitement through the event.

Sunnies World

Sunnies World opens at Bonifacio High Street

Twelve years since it first introduced stylish, accessible eyewear to Manila, Sunnies has evolved into something much bigger, a lifestyle rooted in thoughtful design and everyday joy. From its early days as a small eyewear label to now encompassing Sunnies Studios, Sunnies Face, Sunnies Coffee, and Sunnies Flask, the brand has steadily built a world of its own, one that feels both aspirational and deeply familiar.

Following a year of milestones, from the reopening of Sunnies Café to the inaugural Sunnies Run that gathered over 10,000 participants and the launch of Sunnies World in Thailand, the brand now comes full circle with the opening of Sunnies World Bonifacio High Street.

Located in the heart of BGC, the new flagship brings together everything the brand has become under one roof: eyewear, beauty, lifestyle, and coffee. The space carries the unmistakable Sunnies touch, with warm light, curved silhouettes, and vintage-inspired finishes that make every corner feel beautifully considered. True to form, the interiors are effortlessly photogenic yet welcoming, designed for lingering conversations, quiet moments over coffee, or an unhurried browse through the latest launches.

Inside, Sunnies World introduces several firsts for the brand, including a cozy conversation pit where guests can relax while waiting for their eyewear, an elevator photobooth offering complimentary photo sessions with every purchase for a limited time, and a customization area that lets visitors personalize merchandise with Sunnies patches. Each detail, from the layout to the lighting, reflects the brand’s eye for design and its ability to turn everyday routines into small moments of delight.

To mark the occasion, Sunnies hosted a casual housewarming party on Nov. 6 ahead of the store’s public opening on Nov. 7. The celebration captures the spirit of the brand itself: fun, inclusive, and effortlessly cool. Shoppers can enjoy in-store treats and exclusive offers throughout opening week, from limited-edition freebies to special coffee pairings.

The Beauty Edit Gallery at Spatio redefines how Filipinos discover beauty

There was a time when beauty discovery lived in the pages of glossy magazines, carefully edited and guided by trusted voices who shaped how we understood color, texture, and scent. Then came the age of social media, where discovery became fast, global, and endlessly scrollable. The Beauty Edit Gallery at Spatio brings these two worlds together, merging expertise and experience into a modern, sensorial space that celebrates beauty in all its forms.
