Porsche set to premiere the new Cayenne Electric
Porsche will premiere its second all-electric SUV — the Cayenne Electric — online on November 19 and will immediately display the all-new model at the Icons of Porsche Festival in Dubai. Upon launch, it joins the existing combustion engine and plug-in hybrid Cayenne models, allowing customers to choose the powertrain that works best for them.
A cornerstone of Porsche’s lineup since 2002, the Cayenne is renowned for combining sports car performance with SUV versatility and everyday practicality.
The new all-electric version continues this tradition with outstanding driving dynamics, long-distance comfort, off-road capability, and the efficiency of advanced electric-vehicle technology.
The new Cayenne Electric is built on Porsche’s latest electric architecture, setting the standard in performance, charging, and digital connectivity.
Setting the new model apart is the direct transfer of motorsport technology from Porsche’s Formula E program. Porsche currently holds both the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Championships in the all-electric race series.
Several systems in the new Cayenne Electric, such as direct oil cooling for the electric motor and significant recuperation capacity, originate from the Porsche 99X Electric Formula E race car.
Even charging infrastructure is shared between the two — the Cayenne Electric uses the same CCS sockets and plugs as the 99X Electric.
For Porsche, Formula E serves as the development lab for its electromobility initiatives. The new Cayenne Electric proves how quickly technology is transferred from motorsport to series production.
Ensuring this is the close collaboration between Porsche’s motorsport and series development teams in Weissach, Germany. Innovation proven on the racetrack influences production models, while insights from road vehicles benefit racing development.
With the Cayenne Electric, Porsche is demonstrating that high performance and electric efficiency are not separate goals. By bringing technology from the track to the road, the manufacturer underscores that its approach to sustainable mobility is rooted in motorsport expertise as much as engineering innovation.
