Filipino aces tee off in Party Golfers tourney
Familiar foes and familiar fairways await the Philippines’ top female golfers as they tee off in the Party Golfers Ladies Open on Wednesday at Lily Golf and Country Club in Taiwan, with hopes high for a long-awaited breakthrough on the country’s LPGA Tour.
After a demanding local season, LPGT standouts Chanelle Avaricio, Princess Superal, Mafy Singson and Florence Bisera headline a strong Philippine contingent looking to turn domestic success into international triumph.
They face a battle-tested field led by Thailand’s PK Kongkraphan and Cholcheva Wongras, Taiwan’s Ching Huang, Hsin Lee and Yu Ju Chen, Japan’s Yuna Arakawa, and Singapore’s Amanda Tan—all regular challengers in regional circuits. Kongkraphan previously edged Harmie Constantino and others in the 2022 Luisita Ladies International, while Huang won at Tagaytay Midlands. For the Filipinos, these names are familiar.
Bisera enters with momentum from her maiden international win in Thailand. Superal, a former Asia Pacific champion, remains a potent force despite an up-and-down season highlighted by a win at Caliraya Springs.
But perhaps the most driven is Daniella Uy, whose joint fourth-place finish in 2019 remains the best by a Filipino female golfer in this event. Winless this year on the LPGT, Uy is eyeing redemption at a venue where she’s come close before.
Also representing the Philippines are Lois Kaye Go, Martina Miñoza, Velinda Castil and others.
